When I became an Entrepreneur 10 years ago, an email list wasn’t a thought and I surely wasn’t thinking about growing a social media following (I only had a Myspace account, lol). Fast forward to today and I’m creating email automations, segmenting my lists, running ad campaigns, increasing my brand awareness and visibility, all while managing brand profiles on 3+ social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram/Instagram TV & Twitter); solodolo. That made me tired just typing that, but within the last year my biz has grown because of the 5 things that I’m about to share with you. 

CONDITION YOURSELF FOR SUCCESS

Creating a successful biz all comes down to what is going on in your mind. If you believe it, you can and WILL achieve it. But if you’re constantly doubting yourself and your mind is full of negative thoughts, you’re setting yourself up for failure. Every single day, you need to condition yourself for success. Talk nice to yourself, recite affirmations, surround yourself with the right books, videos, and people that will educate, encourage, inform, inspire and support you while you build your biz.

SET A MARKETING BUDGET

Brand awareness, visibility and a unique selling proposition are key when it comes to your marketing strategy. Every day you need to focus on what you can do to get your business out there. From card dropping, to branded promotional items you CAN market your biz on a micro budget. Trust me for about the same price of a mani & peddi you can advertise your biz thanks to social media. Challenge yourself to go to a least one networking event a month. Aren’t you ready to expand your reach and connect with your ideal clients/customers?

LEARN HOW TO SELL

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Closed Mouths Don’t Get Fed! The truth is if you’re aren’t making money/a profit, you have an expensive hobby. Brag about yourself and your biz EVERY chance you get! In order to build a successful business, you need to learn how to sell. You can do this through so many different ways – webinars, Facebook ads, strategy calls the list can go on and on, but you get my drift. So, choose one method of getting yourself out there and commit to it.

SET UP SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES FOR YOUR BIZ

Be honest is your back end in order; don’t you think it’s time to stop shifting thru emails to find client notes? You need to get systems and processes in place so that you can scale your business. Trust me things will end up in a mess if you skip this step. Use a project management system like Asana to document your processes.

BUILD A TEAM AKA DELEGATE

When you start out in business, you’re usually by yourself running everything. Eventually, you’re going to need a team to prevent from driving yourself crazy and burning out. Get really clear on what you need help with and tasks you can delegate so you can devote more time to income producing activities. Fiverr and Upwork are my go to platforms when I need a Graphic Designer or VA and LinkedIn is a great source for interns.
