One of the most frequent questions my clients in my Selectively Social program ask me is what content to post on social media. In the One Hour Content Plan Meera Kothand describes content marking as the catalyst for building a relationship with your reader by empowering and educating them. When your content is on point (educates, entertains/inspires) your readers are more likely to brag about it (word of mouth is still the best marketing/promotion) and share it with others. However coming up with content ideas and knowing what you’re going to post on your social media profiles can be a nightmare when you’re first starting out. Quotes

Posting quotes that motivate, inspire or relate to your audience connects you with them. Quotes show that you value the same things such as drive, ambition or maybe even humor. Post quotes that will catch the attention of your audience and entice them to comment or share your post.

Behind the scenes

Behind the scenes posts allows you to include your audience in the process of how things are created or made. It gives them insider access to your processes, which helps them learn more about you and your brand. You can also use your behind the scenes post to request feedback/insight from your audience which will build a stronger connection and make them feel a-part of the process.

Questions

Want to know what type of content/product or services your tribe is craving….ask a question. Asking your audience questions helps you create targeted content and it helps you understand who they are and what they like. Questions also helps you avoid wasting time creating content/products/services that only YOU think will benefit your tribe.

Surveys

Surveys are great for engagement. It also helps you learn more about your audience and target market. You can create surveys with Jot Form, Survey Monkey or Typeform. Use a Bit.ly link to direct people to the site to take the survey.

Facts about Your Brand

People buy from those who they know, like and trust. What better way for them to get to know more about you and your brand than to share facts/your story. Your story could be the inspiration someone needs for them to start or keep going.

Promotions

Promotions are a marketing strategy to bring awareness to your target audience and to increase sales from your target market. Promotions can be discounted prices, free products or service, or upgrades in product packages or services. You can package your products or services in many ways. Determine what your market needs at the moment and create a promotion for them.

Updates/Announcements

Updates and announcements are a great way to keep your audience “in the know”. If your website will be going under maintenance, you’re traveling and unavailable, create content to update your clients/customers! If you have a new ecourse or ebook coming up, you’ll be guest blogging or interviewed share the announcement with your community.
